People preying on animals or the elderly are some of the lowest scumbags on earth and one of those scumbags almost made an 84-year-old Texas woman a victim. Luckily there was a good Samaritan who stepped in to make sure the woman didn’t end up losing $44,000.

The details were released by the White Settlement, Texas Chief of Police Christopher Cook. According to police the woman had collected $44,000 in cash and planned to deposit the money into a Bitcoin machine at a Chevron gas station near I-30 in White Settlement.

Mindy Jordan just happened to be in the store at the same time and could hear the people on the phone and quickly realized the woman was being scammed. The woman being scammed seemed very nervous so Mindy decided it would be best to call the police.

Police Arrived and Got on the Phone

Sargent Jame Stewart arrived first and go on the phone with the scammers. The scammers then started calling the officer names because he shut down the scam that was going on. It ended up saving the woman thousands of dollars.

Money Retrieved from the Bitcoin Machine

This past weekend the victim was issued a check for $23,900 which was recovered from the Bitcoin ATM after she had deposited the money. They even escorted the woman to the bank to deposit the money back in her account.

Scam Reminder

The White Settlement Police Department wants to remind everyone to never give money to banks or law enforcement over the phone. No one would ever ask or demand that from you. So, please try your best to protect your money from anyone who demands it from you.
