The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) alerts the public about fraudulent websites and internet banking login screens linked to Chiyu Banking Corporation Limited.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a warning to the public regarding fraudulent websites and internet banking login screens purporting to be associated with Chiyu Banking Corporation Limited. This alert comes in response to reports received by the HKMA concerning these deceptive online platforms.

Public Alert on Fraudulent Activities

According to the HKMA, these fraudulent websites and login screens have been designed to mimic legitimate banking interfaces, potentially tricking users into providing sensitive personal information. The HKMA has highlighted that banks will not send SMS or emails with embedded hyperlinks for transaction purposes. Furthermore, they will not request sensitive information, such as login passwords or One-Time Passwords, through phone calls, emails, or SMS, including via hyperlinks.

Recommendations for Affected Individuals

Individuals who suspect they have provided personal information or conducted financial transactions through these fraudulent platforms are advised to contact Chiyu Banking Corporation Limited using the official contact details provided in the bank’s press release. It is also recommended that affected individuals report the incident to the Hong Kong Police Force’s Crime Wing Information Centre at 2860 5012.

Preventative Measures and Resources

The HKMA emphasizes the importance of vigilance and recommends that consumers regularly review security guidelines available on the HKMA website. The authority encourages the public to remain cautious and to verify the authenticity of any banking communications before engaging with them.
