The post When Could We See a Full-Blown Altcoin Season? Here’s What a Top Analyst Thinks appeared first on Coinpedia Fintech News

The crypto market has been plagued with questions: When will altcoins finally have their moment? According to Jamie Coutts, Chief Crypto Analyst at Real Vision, the altcoin season may already be underway — or at least in its early stages.

Are We in an Alt Season Right Now?

In a recent interview with Milk Road, Coutts was asked to share his thoughts on when the market might experience a full-blown altcoin season. While acknowledging how difficult it is to nail down exact timing, he pointed out that several indicators suggest we’re already seeing the initial signs.

Coutts referenced an alt season index he tracks, which compares the performance of the top 200 equal-weighted tokens against the market cap-weighted index. He said that the market recently hit a level similar to what we saw at the end of 2020 — right before altcoins delivered an impressive 6 to 12-month run. “I think we’re in it right now,” said Coutts. “We’re starting to see the very early stages.”

What Makes This Cycle Different?

Coutts was quick to point out that this altcoin cycle won’t be like the wild, speculative runs of the past. Unlike previous cycles where almost any token could pump, the current market is showing dispersion — meaning not all altcoins are moving together.

He said that the most sustainable gains will likely come from projects with strong fundamentals and real adoption. Tokens backed by meaningful usage and ecosystems are the ones investors should focus on.

How Long Could It Last?

Based on recent market patterns, Coutts said that these altcoin outperformance phases typically last around three to six months. Expect targeted growth in select altcoins, with strong fundamentals separating winners from the rest.
