Ripple Mint Launches to Expand Institutional Access to RLUSD Stablecoin

Key Takeaways

  • Ripple Mint gives institutions web-based and programmatic access to RLUSD.
  • New APIs, webhooks and reference IDs support automated stablecoin operations.
  • RLUSD is expanding across additional blockchain networks to reach more financial applications.

Ripple Targets Institutional Stablecoin Operations

Institutional access to the Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin expanded on July 23 when Ripple launched Ripple Mint, a platform that enables eligible customers to mint, redeem, and manage the regulated stablecoin.

The platform combines a browser-based interface with application programming interfaces (APIs) that allow institutions to automate stablecoin operations, integrate RLUSD into existing systems, and manage digital dollar liquidity across supported blockchain networks. Ripple said the unified platform gives customers the flexibility to choose between manual and programmatic workflows while reducing operational complexity.

RLUSD is issued by Standard Custody & Trust Company LLC, which received a limited-purpose trust charter from the New York Department of Financial Services. That oversight is central to the product’s institutional pitch because regulated financial companies often require clear compliance and operational standards before adopting a stablecoin.

Automation Brings RLUSD Into Existing Systems

Ripple Mint adds APIs, webhook notifications, programmatic balance access and transaction status tracking to help institutions automate RLUSD activity. Consistent reference IDs connect each step of the minting and redemption process, giving exchanges, market makers and fintech companies clearer visibility across fiat transfers and blockchain transactions.

Eligible customers can initiate redemptions through the web interface or an API, choose fiat settlement or move RLUSD across supported blockchains, and receive real-time updates for events such as fiat receipt, mint processing, onchain settlement, and payout completion. The added automation comes as RLUSD activity across the XRP Ledger continues to support broader liquidity and institutional use cases.

Ripple is positioning RLUSD for enterprise payments, cross-border settlement, tokenized financial markets, and other institutional financial applications. According to Ripple’s official RLUSD overview, the dollar-backed stablecoin is designed to support regulated digital asset infrastructure for financial institutions.

Multichain Expansion Broadens RLUSD Availability

The launch also extends RLUSD beyond its original deployments on the XRP Ledger and Ethereum. New support is being added for the XRPL EVM Sidechain, Base, Optimism, Ink and Unichain, giving institutions and developers more ways to use the stablecoin across decentralized finance, payments and other blockchain-based services.

The XRPL EVM Sidechain is central to that strategy because it combines Ethereum Virtual Machine compatibility with a connection to the XRP Ledger. That structure allows RLUSD to work with Ethereum-based tools and applications while supporting additional liquidity, settlement and transaction activity within the broader XRP ecosystem.

Wider blockchain access builds on RLUSD’s expansion onto additional trading venues. Earlier listings, including OKX, increased the stablecoin’s availability through major exchanges, while Binance’s RLUSD listing further broadened access for institutions and market participants.

Existing RLUSD customers can use Ripple Mint immediately through either manual or automated workflows. The company plans to develop the platform into a broader system for institutional stablecoin operations and liquidity management.
