S&P Global Leads Kaiko Investment, Taking Series B to $110M

S&P Global led a strategic investment in crypto data provider Kaiko, extending the company’s Series B funding total to $110 million, Kaiko said on September 14.

The Block reported that Kaiko’s earlier Series B raised $53 million in June 2022, making the newly disclosed total $57 million higher, and that Eight Roads led the 2022 round. Kaiko did not disclose its valuation, the size of S&P Global’s investment or the amounts invested by other participants, according to The Block.

S&P Global extends Kaiko’s Series B to $110 million

The funding extension adds a major market-data name to Kaiko’s investor base as the company pursues work spanning digital-asset data and tokenized-market infrastructure. Kaiko’s announcement described S&P Global as the lead investor in the strategic financing.

The $110 million figure represents cumulative Series B funding rather than a disclosed standalone amount for the latest extension. That distinction limits visibility into the valuation attached to the transaction and the ownership stakes involved, since neither Kaiko nor the reported deal coverage provided those details.

The earlier $53 million raise came more than four years before the September 2026 extension. Kaiko’s latest announcement did not set out a separate closing date for individual commitments or break down the capital by investor.

The investor group spans data, banking and crypto firms

Alongside S&P Global, the extension included BNP Paribas, Bpifrance, Broadridge, Canton Foundation, Coinbase Ventures, DRW Venture Capital, Nasdaq Ventures, Royal Bank of Canada, Stellar and Susquehanna Private Equity Investments. Existing Kaiko shareholders Anthemis, Point Nine and Revaia also participated.

The roster brings together institutions associated with financial markets, banking, trading and crypto infrastructure. It also makes the financing more than a capital event in Kaiko’s description of the arrangement: participating investors joined a Kaiko-chaired Strategic Industry Working Group.

That group is focused on data infrastructure for tokenized markets, according to Kaiko. The company did not detail the group’s planned projects, timetable or output in its announcement.

Kaiko targets tokenized-market infrastructure

Kaiko said the new capital will support its core digital-asset data business and expansion into onchain capital-markets infrastructure.

Its institutional-grade data infrastructure covers more than 150 exchanges and protocols and is designed for 24/7 digital-asset and tokenized markets, according to the company.

The financing participants joined a Strategic Industry Working Group focused on data infrastructure for tokenized markets, which Kaiko will chair.

S&P Kaiko indices provide immediate context

S&P Global’s investment arrives less than two weeks after S&P Dow Jones Indices and Kaiko announced their co-branded S&P Kaiko Digital Asset Indices suite. Announced on September 1, the suite is set to cover more than 4,000 rates and indices, according to S&P Dow Jones Indices.

The index launch provides the clearest immediate commercial context for the strategic investment. It pairs Kaiko’s digital-asset data operations with S&P Dow Jones Indices’ index business, while the new financing broadens the set of market participants connected to Kaiko’s tokenized-market data initiative.

The companies have not disclosed whether the investment changes the scope, governance or commercial terms of the S&P Kaiko index suite. For now, the announced relationship encompasses both the index offering of more than 4,000 rates and indices and Kaiko’s expanded Series B financing.
