Cypherpunk Technologies, the Nasdaq-listed privacy technology company, announced on September 22 that it has appointed veteran mining executive Amanda Fabiano to its board of directors, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Fabiano is the chief operating officer of Nakamoto Inc., a publicly listed bitcoin-focused company, and an independent director of TeraWulf Inc., the bitcoin miner that has expanded into artificial intelligence and high-performance computing infrastructure.
A mining resume built at Fidelity and Galaxy
Before her operating roles, Fabiano held senior mining and investment positions at Galaxy and Fidelity, where she helped build some of the earliest institutional digital asset mining programs. “Amanda has spent her career at the operational core of digital asset infrastructure building, scaling, and governing mining businesses inside public companies,” said Douglas E. Onsi, Cypherpunk’s president and chief executive officer. “Her operational expertise and public company board experience make her an exceptional addition to our Board.”
Zcash mining yields 3,023 ZEC since August
The appointment follows the August launch of Cypherpunk Mining, which has deployed about 4.2 gigasol per second of hashrate across the United States. The division generated 3,023.13 ZEC in mining rewards between August 18 and August 31, all of which have been added to the corporate treasury. Cypherpunk is pursuing a three-part strategy: mining Zcash through Cypherpunk Mining, accumulating Zcash through open market purchases, and investing in or building privacy-focused technologies.
A privacy bet with a biotech sidecar
Fabiano tied her appointment to the company’s broader privacy mission. “I’ve spent my career in infrastructure because it sits at the heart of how technology scales and evolves,” she said. “As our world becomes increasingly digital, privacy and the ability for individuals to maintain control over their information will matter more than ever.” Alongside its crypto operations, Cypherpunk’s subsidiary Leap Therapeutics is developing cancer therapies including sirexatamab and FL-501, making the company an unusual blend of digital asset mining and biotechnology.
Institutional attention turns to Zcash
The board addition arrives as Zcash draws fresh institutional notice. Grayscale has been pushing toward a spot ETF for the privacy coin, a step that has put Zcash’s institutional profile in focus. Cypherpunk itself has expanded steadily this year, reporting in its second-quarter filing a balance sheet shaped by its Zcash accumulation. Fabiano’s seats at TeraWulf and Nakamoto give Cypherpunk direct access to operational expertise at two of the sector’s most active public miners as it scales its own fleet.
