Sumit Ghosh, the Co-founder and CEO of Chingari, expressed the company’s vision, stating, “Our goal is to create a seamless and engaging gaming experience that utilizes the benefits of blockchain technology. We believe that Web3 has the potential to revolutionize the gaming industry and provide a new level of excitement and competition for gamers worldwide.”
Ghosh talked about Chingari’s unique position in the market and said that because of its expertise in social media, entertainment, and blockchain technology, it is now holding a key position in the gaming industry.
Chingari was founded in 2018 by Sumit Ghosh, Aditya Kothari, Biswatma Nayak, and Deepak Salvi. Chingari initially gained popularity as an on-chain social app, allowing users to upload videos, interact with friends, and share and browse content. Aditya Kothari one of the co-founders separated ways with the company last year.
This move into the Web3 gaming space marks a shift for Chingari, coming nearly a year after the company’s reported exploration of NSFW content. Despite facing challenges, including layoffs affecting over 50% of its staff, Chingari has seen improvements in its financial performance. The company reported a narrowed net loss of 69.5% to INR 42.5 Cr in FY23, attributed to its growing top line and reduced advertising costs.
The company is planning to launch more games by the next quarter of 2024 with an aim to expand its web3 gaming portfolio to cater to a diverse range of users.
