BitMEX has temporarily delisted the _NEXT indices, which align with live indices for mark price calculations, with plans to relist in March 2025 ahead of the next index rebalance.

In a significant move affecting market participants, BitMEX has announced the temporary delisting of its _NEXT indices as of February 3, 2025. The _NEXT indices currently mirror the live indices used for calculating mark prices, according to BitMEX.

Reason for Delisting

The decision to temporarily remove these indices comes as part of BitMEX’s routine maintenance and strategic planning. The cryptocurrency exchange plans to relist the _NEXT indices in March 2025, just before their next scheduled index rebalance. This planned relisting aims to ensure the indices align with updated market conditions and provide accurate pricing mechanisms.

Impact on Traders

Traders utilizing these indices for their trading strategies may need to adjust their approaches during this temporary delisting period. The _NEXT indices are crucial for calculating mark prices, which influence the valuation of open positions on the platform. Thus, this change may impact trading strategies that rely on these specific indices.

Future Plans

BitMEX has assured its users that the relisting of the _NEXT indices will occur prior to the next scheduled index rebalance, maintaining the integrity and accuracy of their trading platform. This proactive approach is intended to minimize disruptions and ensure a seamless transition for market participants.

For further information and updates, users are encouraged to visit the official announcement on the BitMEX blog.
