Consensys, the powerhouse behind the MetaMask wallet, has unveiled a suite of tools designed to streamline Web3 onboarding for new users. Announced at the EthCC event, the new Delegation Toolkit empowers developers to craft decentralized applications (DApps) and protocols that offer innovative and user-friendly experiences.
The Delegation Toolkit aims to make the onboarding process for new users seamless by removing the need for traditional wallet interactions. This means no more juggling seed phrases or dealing with annoying pop-ups and confirmations. Users can now dive straight into DApps, enjoying a frictionless experience.
One of the standout features of this toolkit is its ability to simplify smart contract development. Developers can now reassign gas costs, making interactions that previously required transaction fees completely free and instant. This shift not only makes DApps more accessible but also helps attract a broader audience by lowering entry barriers.
The Delegation Toolkit is designed to support all Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) chains, including popular ones like Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Linea, Optimism, and Polygon. This broad compatibility ensures that developers can build versatile and scalable applications across multiple platforms.
The toolkit also introduces customizable permission and enforcement systems. Developers can set specific policies, invite users to DApps, and allocate allowances, providing a tailored and controlled user experience. According to Dan Finlay, MetaMask’s co-founder, this feature allows developers to “decide” the conditions for executing tasks, thus eliminating the need for constant confirmations and enabling uninterrupted workflows within websites.
The Delegation Toolkit is the latest in a series of enhancements aimed at improving MetaMask. Recently, Consensys acquired Wallet Guard, a security app known for its real-time detection of scams and wallet drainers. These security features will be integrated into MetaMask, bolstering the wallet’s security infrastructure.
Additionally, MetaMask has been experimenting with transactions on Mastercard’s payment network. This follows a partnership with Revolut, the European neo-bank, to streamline the process of purchasing cryptocurrency directly from the wallet.
With the introduction of the Delegation Toolkit, MetaMask continues to innovate and enhance the user experience in the Web3 space. By simplifying onboarding, smart contract development, and security, MetaMask is paving the way for a more inclusive and user-friendly blockchain environment.
