WallStreetBet’s fraudulent breach on its X account led to the stealing of meme coins worth $2.2 million on the Solana blockchain. Blockchain sleuth ZachXBT stated that the exploit originated from X’s mobile application. $1,430,000 in PNUT tokens, $400,000 in ZEREBRO tokens and $130,000 in ALCH tokens were reported as major losses. The hackers exploited a flaw by incorporating passkeys into the hacked accounts they held control of even when their access was being regained. WallStreetBets has been able to get back into the platform and is currently in collaboration with X’s security team to deal with the recurrent issues. Users are advised to be careful with links they receive on social media especially when they look ‘too good to be true’.
