The Penpie exploiter has accumulated money to maintain the anonymity of the stolen funds, and the exploiter has deposited another 1. 66K ETH via Tornado Cash. That is the latest transaction, which raises the laundered to 11.16K ETH valued to be around 27 million US dollars. The attacker was able to manipulate a weakness in Penpie’s reward mechanism and drain a lot of ETH. The hacker is using Tornado Cash – a crypto mixer, which complicates the tracking and freezing of the stolen amount of funds. This is at the same time an elaborate process in money laundering hence posing a great challenge to investigators to track it.
