Berlin, April 2024 – Decode Travel Hackathon, held at w3.hub in Berlin from April 23-26, 2024, showcased groundbreaking advancements in travel technology with web3 solutions.

The hackathon brought together developers, innovators, and thought leaders from the blockchain and travel industry to tackle pressing challenges through the application of web3 technologies available on Camino Network — the Layer 1 blockchain designed for the travel industry (link to Cam Token article on Cointelegraph).

Under the mentorship of Polygon ID experts, participants developed innovative use cases for Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) to enhance data security and privacy in travel personalization, enable access to preferential rates discreetly, and simplify travel processes from check-in to booking.

The hackathon served as the gateway for travel brands to successfully develop proof of concept solutions tailored to their specific business challenges, utilizing the opportunity to further educate their teams about the evolving tech stack and integrate with the web3 travel community of Camino Network. This event highlighted the future trends in travel technologies and empowered participants with hands-on experience and deeper insights into innovative digital solutions that are reshaping the industry.

  • Polygon ID: Hackers implemented Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) solutions and verifiable credentials into the booking process creating privacy-focused solutions.
  • Alpitour World: Participants integrated crypto payments to enhance the journey with local experiences, ensuring economic benefits for communities.
  • HolidayCheck: Hackers created tools for submitting verified travel reviews, utilizing zero-knowledge proofs for proof-of-stays’ authenticity.
  • Universal Mallorca: Solutions to engage in and manage contributions to seaweed restoration were developed, promoting sustainability in travel.
  • Bonus Challenge by Camino Network Foundation: Hackers utilized Camino Messenger to streamline interactions between distributors and suppliers, making booking processes more efficient.
