Electric Capital’s latest report highlights Sui’s rapid growth in the Move developer community, showcasing significant increases in developer activity and engagement.
The latest Electric Capital developer data reveals that Sui has the largest and most rapidly growing Move developer community, according to The Sui Blog. This growth underscores Sui’s emerging leadership in the blockchain industry.
Highlights from the Electric Capital Developer Report
From the beginning of 2024 to July 1st, Sui experienced a 219% increase in monthly active developers, maintaining nearly 1,400 developers throughout June. This surge highlights the rising interest and engagement in Move development and the Sui platform.
More than half of Sui’s active monthly developers are dedicated single-chain developers, demonstrating a strong commitment to building exclusively on Sui. Additionally, the number of full-time developers has grown by over 145%, with part-time and first-time developers more than doubling in a three-month period.
Developer activity on Sui is at an all-time high, with a significant rise in code contributions. Total commits increased by 125%, reaching over 18,000 in the first half of 2024 alone, and nearing a total of 5 million commits overall. There has also been an 84% increase in total repositories, further illustrating the growing engagement of the developer community building on Sui.
The Sui Overflow Hackathon Impact
A notable influx of new developers occurred between March and June, largely attributed to the Sui Overflow Hackathon. With over 350 submitted projects, this hackathon showcased the excitement surrounding Sui and demonstrated the platform’s ability to attract and support innovative builders.
