SuiNS has announced a retroactive airdrop of staked NS tokens for early active community members, rewarding their governance contributions with additional voting power.
Sui Name Service (SuiNS) is recognizing its earliest active community members with a retroactive airdrop of staked NS tokens, according to The Sui Blog. This initiative aims to reward those who have contributed significantly to the project’s governance through consistent participation and voting in the SuiNS DAO.
Eligibility and Reward Structure
The airdrop targets those who voted on any SuiNS DAO proposal with more than 0.1 NS between November 2024 and June 2025. The reward allocation is determined by three key factors: participation, consistency, and longevity. These factors ensure that the more actively and regularly a member participated, the greater their governance power and reward.
Participants will receive their rewards as staked NS tokens, which carry additional voting power as if they had been staked since the first proposal date. This effectively enhances their influence on future governance decisions within the SuiNS ecosystem.
Accessing the Rewards
Eligible community members can view their rewards by connecting their wallets to the official SuiNS voting platform. The rewards are already active, requiring no additional claims or steps. This setup ensures that the rewards are seamlessly integrated into the governance framework, enhancing the power of those who have actively contributed.
A New Approach to Airdrops
SuiNS’s approach to the airdrop is distinct from typical token distributions. By avoiding claim pages and gas wars, the process eliminates unnecessary steps and focuses on rewarding genuine participation. The staked tokens come with months of accumulated governance power, providing recipients with increased influence over upcoming proposals.
This strategy aims to strengthen the DAO by ensuring that governance power remains with committed members rather than speculators, fostering long-term growth and stability within the SuiNS community.
Future Prospects for Onchain Identity
The retroactive airdrop not only serves as a token of appreciation for early supporters but also lays the groundwork for future developments in onchain identity and governance. SuiNS plans to introduce new proposals that will further integrate identity, ownership, and governance, allowing participants to have a more significant impact on the Sui ecosystem.
As SuiNS evolves, it aims to transform onchain identities from mere labels into powerful tools for community engagement and decision-making, reinforcing the importance of active participation in shaping the project’s direction.
