According to on-chain data from Lookonchain, Tether USDT on the Tron network has surpassed Visa in daily trading volume as USDT reached $53 billion compared to Visa’s $42 billion. Data from April had the top three stablecoins, a combined monthly trading volume of $1.369 trillion, which exceeded Visa’s monthly average of $1.23 trillion in 2023. Further, Tether had almost the same monthly volume as Mastercard, the second-largest card provider. The spike in the volume can be partly due to the increasing stablecoin demand in a crypto market downturn. Stablecoins have increased monthly transfer volumes by over 10x in the past 4 years, reaching approximately $1 trillion.
