The United States Justice Department has frozen over $6 million in cryptocurrencies attributable to global con artists working on an investment scam. The fraud aimed at the United States and relied on deceptive trust to ensure people invested in cryptocurrency transferred their funds to fake platforms. The FBI followed the money laundering using blockchain analysis and discovered that there are several other wallets that contain the stolen resources of the victims. Criminals repeatedly use dating apps and social networks to make people trust them before leading to the so-called ‘get-rich-quick schemes’.
