Montoursville, Pa. — Police say a 65-year-old woman of Eldred Township lost $12,000 after a scammer claimed to be from Apple support.
The victim received the call on May 23 from the supposed tech support person from Apple. The victim gave the unknown suspect $12,000 in exchange for Bitcoin, according to Trp. Klinger of state police at Montoursville.
Police say there have been various scams lately involving Bitcoin. The public is encouraged to be cautious when exchanging cryptocurrency.
