Bitcoin and Ether ETFs Lose $152M as Blackrock Drives Friday Selloff – Bitcoin News

Key Takeaways

  • Bitcoin and ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) lost $152.07M on Friday, capping weeks of roughly $228.6M and $320M in outflows.
  • Solana hit ten straight outflow days, while NEAR again attracted fresh capital amid broader selling.
  • Attention now turns to whether active ETF trading can translate into steadier institutional demand.

Bitcoin ETF Demand Stays Fragile as Friday Outflows Hit $82M

The week ended much as it had traded: with institutional investors still cutting exposure across the largest digital assets.

Bitcoin ETFs recorded $82.39 million in net outflows on Friday. Blackrock’s IBIT accounted for $71.78 million, while Fidelity’s FBTC lost another $10.61 million. Trading value reached $2.66 billion, lifting weekly bitcoin ETF turnover above $10 billion. Net assets closed at $104.29 billion.

That volume is important. Investors were not simply stepping away from the market. They remained active while reducing exposure.

Across the five sessions, bitcoin ETFs lost roughly $228.6 million. Tuesday’s $175.62 million rebound and Thursday’s small $5.06 million inflow were overwhelmed by redemptions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

For bitcoin’s price, that leaves institutional demand looking fragile rather than absent.

Ether Selling Remains the Stronger Warning

Ether ETFs lost $69.68 million on Friday, entirely through Blackrock’s ETHA. Net assets fell to $14.95 billion, while trading activity totaled $645.81 million.

The weekly pattern was harsher than bitcoin’s.

Ether funds posted roughly $320 million in net outflows from Monday through Friday. Tuesday’s $24.84 million inflow briefly ended a 10-session losing streak, but the recovery lasted only one day. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday immediately returned to redemptions.

That makes ether the clearest source of sustained institutional de-risking in the current crypto ETF market. The selling has persisted through multiple sessions and across changing daily market conditions.

Solana’s Losing Streak Reaches 10 Days

Solana ETFs lost another $12.67 million on Friday, entirely through Bitwise’s BSOL. The category has now recorded ten consecutive days of outflows. Net assets declined to $1.62 billion.

The acceleration is notable.

Early-week Solana withdrawals were relatively small. Thursday brought a $9.82 million exit, followed by Friday’s $12.67 million loss. Across the week, outflows reached roughly $25.5 million.

That suggests the institutional retreat from higher-beta exposure strengthened as the week progressed.

XRP ETFs also lost $2.47 million through Canary’s XRPC, while Zcash shed $1.22 million through Grayscale’s ZCSH. Zcash finished another difficult week with net assets at $625.34 million.

NEAR Remains the Outlier

NEAR continued to move against the broader market.

Bitwise’s NRR attracted another $2.61 million on Friday. The product has repeatedly found buyers during sessions when larger crypto ETF categories were losing capital. That resilience stands out after a week dominated by defensive positioning.

The broader signal is clear. Bitcoin still commands enough liquidity to generate sharp rebounds, but those bursts have struggled to hold. Ether selling remains persistent, while solana’s weakness is deepening.

Healthy bitcoin trading volume above $10 billion for the week also suggests institutional participation remains substantial.

Capital has not disappeared from crypto ETFs. Investors are trading actively, becoming more selective and demanding stronger reasons to maintain risk.
