Bitcoin Price Predictions Draw a Brutal Line Between $84K and $100K

Key Takeaways

  • Myriad traders give bitcoin’s price an 84% shot at hitting $84K before it takes a trip down to $55K.
  • Polymarket traders see a 25% shot at $100K in 2026, while $150K gets a measly 2%.
  • Kalshi traders aren’t sold on six figures yet, giving bitcoin a 25% shot at $100K before 2027.

Bitcoin’s price has spent years making enormous swings look almost routine, but prediction markets are drawing a surprisingly sharp line around its next few thousand dollars. As bitcoin touched an intraday high of $81,377 on Sept. 18 at 3:15 p.m. ET, Myriad traders gave it an 84% chance of reaching $84,000 before falling to $55,000.

Move the finish line slightly higher, though, and confidence starts disappearing fast. Polymarket gives $85,000 an 80% probability, $90,000 a 59% shot, and $100,000 just 25%. By $150,000, the market is basically throwing in the towel on 2026, pricing the target at only 2%.

Traders Like $84K, but Confidence Fades Fast

Myriad’s market event keeps the question simple: Which comes first, $84,000 or $55,000? With $242,000 in volume, traders currently put the $84,000 outcome at 84%, leaving just 16% for $55,000. The contract uses the Binance BTC/USDT spot market and its 1-minute Tradingview candle close, and it shuts down as soon as either qualifying target is reached.

From bitcoin’s Sept. 18 intraday high of $81,377, reaching $84,000 requires another gain of only about $2,600, while falling to $55,000 would mean shedding more than $26,000. Put another way, the upside finish line is sitting right around the corner, while the downside target is a long drive away. Prediction traders overwhelmingly expect bitcoin to knock on the closer door first, but things get more interesting when the targets move higher.

Every Extra $5K Changes the Mood

Polymarket’s much larger “What price will Bitcoin hit in 2026?” event contract has attracted more than $67 million in volume, and its probability ladder tells a more complicated story. Traders give bitcoin an 80% chance of reaching $85,000 before the end of 2026, but at $90,000, the probability drops to 59%. Move another $5,000 higher to $95,000, and the odds fall again to 39%.

Then comes the psychological heavyweight, $100,000. Despite bitcoin already trading above $81,000, Polymarket puts the probability of reaching six figures before the end of the year at only 25%. At $110,000, traders price the possibility at 15%, and $120,000 gets just 8%. By $150,000, the implied probability has collapsed to 3% in the broader price-target market.

$150K Is Where Traders Really Hit the Brakes

A separate Polymarket contract dedicated specifically to bitcoin reaching $150,000 is even colder on the idea. Traders put the probability of bitcoin reaching that price by Dec. 31 at just 2%, although the odds gradually improve as the calendar stretches out. The market gives $150,000 an 8% chance by March 31, 2027, 12% by June 30 and 26% by the end of 2027.

Kalshi traders aren’t much more enthusiastic about $150,000 this year. Kalshi’s current contract gives bitcoin a 4% chance of crossing that threshold before January 2027, with nearly $36.5 million in total volume. That means two separate prediction platforms are effectively saying the same thing: $150,000 isn’t impossible, but traders are demanding extremely long odds before they’ll seriously entertain it happening this year.

Even $100K Has Traders Split

The really fascinating number may be $100,000 because it isn’t some moonshot target anymore. Bitcoin only needs to climb roughly 23% from its Sept. 18 high to get there, yet prediction traders still aren’t convinced that it will happen before 2027. Polymarket’s dedicated $100,000 contract gives bitcoin a 25% chance of reaching the mark by Dec. 31, while the prediction marketplace Kalshi puts the probability of crossing $100,000 before January 2027 at 25%.

The calendar changes everything. Polymarket’s odds rise to 43% by March 31, 2027, 54% by June 30, 61% by Sept. 30, and 74% by the end of 2027. Traders aren’t necessarily saying bitcoin can’t return to six figures. They’re saying the clock matters a great deal, and another three, six or 12 months dramatically changes how much money they’re willing to put behind the idea.

The Downside Bets Tell Their Own Story

The flip side gets interesting too. Polymarket traders currently give bitcoin a 48% probability of touching $70,000 before the end of 2026, while $65,000 carries 29% odds and $60,000 sits at 19%. The probability of bitcoin reaching $55,000 falls to 12%, with more than $6.1 million in volume attached to that particular target.

Kalshi has another way of framing the same tug-of-war. One of its current markets asks whether bitcoin will fall below $50,000 before reaching $100,000 puts the $50,000-first outcome at 12.8%, with nearly $1.2 million traded. That contract makes the contest especially easy to understand: traders are effectively choosing which distant wall bitcoin crashes into first, and right now, the six-figure wall has considerably more support.

Prediction Markets See a Much Less Dramatic Ending

Perhaps the strangest contrast comes from Kalshi’s year-end bitcoin market. After bitcoin touched $81,377 on Sept. 18, the platform’s visible price brackets remain tightly packed around roughly the same territory. The 75,000-to-79,999.99 range carries a 14.4% probability, while 80,000-to-84,999.99 sits at 13.2% and 70,000-to-74,999.99 stands at 12%.

So after all the bets on $100,000, $150,000 and even $1 million, one of the market’s most mundane possibilities remains firmly in the cards: bitcoin could spend the next three months going on a wild ride only to finish 2026 somewhere near where it was trading on Sept. 18. Prediction traders may overwhelmingly like $84,000 before $55,000, but once the question becomes how high bitcoin ultimately goes, their confidence evaporates remarkably quickly. The next $3,000 looks easy to them. The next $20,000 is another story entirely.
