Bitcoin Leads as Crypto Funds Rally Broadly
Institutional money returned with force on Friday, Sept. 18, spreading well beyond bitcoin as investors added exposure across nearly every major crypto ETF category.
Bitcoin ETFs led the session with $433.03 million in net inflows. Fidelity’s FBTC dominated the buying with $310.72 million, while Blackrock’s IBIT added another $108.44 million. Bitwise’s BITB attracted $9.69 million. Vaneck’s HODL and Ark & 21Shares’ ARKB added $2.29 million and $1.88 million, respectively.
Daily trading value jumped to $4.67 billion, while net assets climbed by more than $7 billion to $102.53 billion. The strong finish coincided with renewed momentum in bitcoin’s price, which moved back above $80,000 following a turbulent week.
Ether and Solana Draw Heavy Demand
Ether ETFs joined the rally with $143.80 million in net inflows.
Blackrock’s ETHA led with $114.32 million, followed by Fidelity’s FETH at $26.24 million. VanEck’s ETHV added $1.92 million, while Bitwise’s ETHW brought in $1.32 million. Trading value reached $1.88 billion. Net assets rose by roughly $1 billion to $16.72 billion.
Solana ETFs delivered another standout move, attracting $47.62 million. The entire inflow went into Bitwise’s BSOL. Trading value reached $199.56 million, with net assets closing at $1.62 billion.
Zcash Approaches $1 Billion as XRP Slips
Demand also remained strong for the recently established Zcash ETF market. Grayscale’s ZCSH attracted $37.67 million, lifting ZEC ETF net assets to $914.53 million.
HYPE ETFs added a more modest $1.03 million, entirely through Bitwise’s BHYP. Trading value totaled $48.84 million, while net assets closed at $494.65 million.
XRP ETFs were the only category to finish in negative territory, though the move was small.
Franklin’s XRPZ drew $1.52 million, while Bitwise’s XRP fund lost $1.56 million. The resulting net outflow was just $43,700. Trading activity reached $52.55 million, with net assets at $1.51 billion.
Bitcoin Demand Returns to Center Stage
Bloomberg Senior ETF Analyst Eric Balchunas highlighted the strength in IBIT trading, noting that the fund ranked fifth among all ETFs by volume during Friday’s session, ahead of gold ETF GLD in ninth place.
On-chain data also pointed to firmer bitcoin demand. Glassnode said entity-adjusted SOPR remains above 1, a level associated with investors realizing profits while underlying demand absorbs the selling. A sustained break below 1 would suggest that support is weakening.
Pantera Capital founder Dan Morehead has also argued that bitcoin could benefit under different monetary outcomes, including a weaker dollar or higher interest rates.
Friday’s flows captured that renewed appetite clearly. Bitcoin regained the lead, while strong demand for ether, solana and Zcash showed that institutional buying remained broad across the digital-asset market.
