Grayscale Drives $47M Bitcoin Outflows as XRP Funds Gain $1.55M

Key Takeaways

  • U.S. bitcoin ETFs lost $46.65M on Tuesday, while XRP funds alone posted $1.55M in inflows.
  • Broad ETF outflows signaled reduced crypto risk appetite after last week’s stronger institutional demand.
  • Investors will watch whether the rest of the week produces a bounce back to inflows.

Crypto ETFs Open Short Week With Multiple Selloffs

The first session after the Labor Day holiday brought little appetite for risk across the crypto exchange-traded fund (ETF) market.

Bitcoin ETFs recorded $46.65 million in net outflows, even as several major funds attracted fresh capital. Bitwise’s BITB added $14.47 million, Blackrock’s IBIT brought in $10.66 million, Ark & 21Shares’ ARKB gained $8.06 million, and Morgan Stanley’s MSBT added $7.41 million.

Those inflows were overwhelmed by redemptions elsewhere. Grayscale’s GBTC lost $65.51 million, Fidelity’s FBTC shed $17.05 million, and Invesco’s BTCO posted a $4.68 million outflow.

Daily trading value reached $2.41 billion, while net assets closed at $99.52 billion. The flows add another layer of pressure for traders watching the correlation between ETF flows and bitcoin’s price after last week’s strong institutional demand.

Ether Funds Join the Pullback

Ether ETFs also finished lower, posting $24.29 million in net outflows.

Grayscale’s Ether Mini Trust lost $24.61 million, while ETHE recorded another $9.57 million exit. Fidelity’s FETH attracted $9.89 million, helping soften the overall decline. Trading activity across ether ETFs reached $952.22 million. Net assets closed at $15.72 billion.

The session marked a quieter start to the week for the broader crypto market after the strong inflow momentum seen in recent sessions.

XRP Holds up as Solana and HYPE Weaken

XRP ETFs were the day’s only gainers, attracting $1.55 million. The entire inflow went into Franklin’s XRPZ. Trading value reached $36.21 million, while net assets ended at $1.51 billion. The positive flow offers a modest sentiment signal for investors tracking XRP’s price.

HYPE ETFs recorded $12.96 million in outflows. Bitwise’s BHYP lost $8.06 million, while 21Shares’ THYP shed $4.89 million, with net assets closing at $464.06 million.

Solana ETFs slipped by $667,720. A $502,730 inflow into 21Shares’ TSOL was offset by a $1.17 million exit from Grayscale’s GSOL. Net assets finished at $1.43 billion.

TRX Joins the US ETF Market

Tuesday also brought a new addition to the digital-asset ETF market.

The first U.S.-listed TRX ETF debuted on Cboe under the ticker TRXS. Its staking rewards will be reinvested into the fund rather than distributed as cash.

For now, however, bitcoin remains the main institutional barometer. Tuesday’s flows showed a softer opening to the week, with capital turning selective across the major crypto ETF categories.
