News Corp and OpenAI announce historic agreement

News Corp and OpenAI have announced a landmark, multi-year global partnership that will bring News Corp news content to OpenAI’s platform. The agreement, which grants OpenAI permission to display content from News Corp mastheads, aims to provide users with the ability to make well-informed decisions based on reliable news sources, according to a press release on OpenAI’s website.

OpenAI gains access to major News Corp publications

Under the partnership, OpenAI will receive access to both current and archived content from News Corp’s major news and information publications. This includes renowned publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, MarketWatch, Investor’s Business Daily, FN, and New York Post among others. However, the agreement does not encompass content from any of News Corp’s other businesses.

News Corp to share journalistic expertise with OpenAI

Beyond providing content, News Corp will also share its journalistic expertise to ensure the highest journalism standards are maintained across OpenAI’s offerings. Robert Thomson, Chief Executive of News Corp, expressed his delight at the partnership, calling it an historic agreement that will set new standards for veracity, virtue, and value in the digital age.

OpenAI CEO expresses excitement over partnership

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, also expressed his excitement over the partnership and the chance to enhance user access to high-quality reporting. Altman stressed the importance of the partnership in setting a foundation for a future where AI deeply respects, enhances, and upholds the standards of world-class journalism.
