Quantum-proof network Quantus debuts its QTC token on Near – Details

Quantus, one of the blockchains that positions itself as quantum-proof, debuted its native token, QTC, on the 6th of October. The proof-of-work (PoW) system will have a capped supply of 21,000,000 QTC tokens, just like Bitcoin.

However, the initial genesis will have 27% of the supply unlocked (5.67M tokens). Out of this, 4.83M will be allocated to investors and the team. The company will get 4% of the supply, or 840,000 QTC. The rest of the remaining 73% supply (15.3M) will be mined.

According to the team, the genesis supply will only be accessible on the cross-chain platform NEAR Intents on the debut day.

On settling on Near for the debut, Quantus CEO Christopher Smith stated in a press release that,

Near.com advances our industry’s original idea of permissionless markets by enabling users to trade across networks without relying on a centralized exchange.

He added,

QTC can bring post-quantum security into a much broader onchain market without compromising the principles it was built around

The team is positioning QTC as a “post-quantum asset,” which separates it from most of the blockchains that are currently at risk of future quantum computers, including Bitcoin.

Interestingly, even Alex Shevchenko, CEO of Defuse Labs, developer of NEAR Intents, backed QTC’s ethos and its plan.

Post-quantum assets only matter if people can reach them from what they already hold. QTC is live on near.com from day one, reachable from the assets people already hold across chains, and traded confidentially.

Near riding the privacy and quantum narrative

Several blockchains are racing to be quantum-proof. So far, Starknet and Quantus stand out as being quantum-safe. Other chains are exploring partial and full implementations.

Part of Near’s stack, like the cross-chain protocol NEAR Intents, also leverages post-quantum cryptography.

Besides, Quantus has privacy by default using zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs. In other words, it covers privacy and quantum security, some of the top narratives that have seen assets such as Zcash [ZEC] explode in the past year.

It remains to be seen whether QTC will explode like Zcash. Behind the privacy and quantum narratives, it seems the cross-chain platform Near Intents is the biggest winner.

And the CEO, Alex Shevchenko, is bullish on the same.

As more value moves onto post-quantum assets and accounts, much of it will have to cross chains to get there, and NEAR Intents is built to carry that movement.

In September, NEAR Intents hit a record $4.8B in DEX volume. Amid the strong traction, Bitwise rolled out a U.S. NEAR ETF to offer investors exposure to the privacy, quantum, and AI narrative metas being driven by the network.

Final Summary

  • Quantus will debut its native “post-quantum” token, QTC, on NEAR Intents.
  • NEAR Intents has silently emerged as one of the winners of the privacy and quantum security narrative.
