Upbit Lists Six Altcoins Including DePIN And AI Tokens In BTC And USDT Markets

Traders on South Korea’s dominant exchange woke to an unusually broad batch of altcoins on Monday, as Upbit opened six new trading pairs against both Bitcoin and Tether. According to the original report, the tokens went live at 2:00 p.m. KST on August 10, covering a sharp mix of sectors that few single listing events have attempted.

The batch includes Cysic (CYS), which is building a ComputeFi ecosystem; Impossible Cloud Network (ICNT), a DePIN-based cloud infrastructure project; Anoma (XAN), a decentralized operating system that connects multiple blockchains; OpenEden (EDEN), a non-custodial lending protocol primarily built on Ethereum; AIOZ Network (AIOZ), a Web3 infrastructure project fusing blockchain with DePIN; and Allora Network (ALLO), a decentralized machine intelligence network. That spread—from compute marketplaces to cross-chain coordination—reflects a deliberate push into narratives that have been gaining institutional and developer mindshare.

A Cross-Sector Altcoin Bundle

Rather than clustering around a single trend, Upbit’s selection reads like a sampler of crypto’s current experimental edge. OpenEden, for instance, leans on Ethereum’s mature lending primitives, a chain that consistently ranks among the top blockchains by developer activity. Anoma’s multi-chain operating system, on the other hand, takes a more architectural approach to network fragmentation. The mix means Korean traders are now directly exposed to project types that previously required swapping on decentralized venues or accessing smaller offshore exchanges.

That kind of immediate accessibility matters. Upbit’s order books can inject sudden liquidity into low-cap tokens, but they also expose new users to technical complexity they may not fully understand. The exchange has not yet released Korean-language educational materials for several of these projects, a gap that often becomes apparent only after volatility sets in.

DePIN and AI Integration at the Forefront

Two of the listed networks—AIOZ and Allora—sit squarely at the intersection of decentralized infrastructure and machine intelligence. AIOZ Network combines blockchain with physical node infrastructure for content delivery and storage, while Allora’s machine intelligence network is designed to coordinate AI model outputs without centralized oversight. Their appearance follows a string of institutional moves into AI-driven Web3, including recent partnerships such as UXLINK and Origins Network teaming up for scalable AI applications.

Impossible Cloud Network’s DePIN cloud model edges into similar territory on the storage and compute side, tackling the same hardware-resource questions that older DePIN tokens like Filecoin have addressed. Whether Korean traders—historically drawn to mainstay altcoins—will maintain lasting interest in these infrastructure plays is uncertain. Past listing cycles show that niche protocol tokens can spike on debut only to see volumes collapse within weeks.

Listing Pairs and Market Structure Implications

Notably, all six tokens launched against BTC and USDT, not against Korean won. That pairing choice bypasses the local fiat on-ramp and tilts the liquidity setup toward global arbitrage traders and investors already holding stablecoin balances. For an exchange that still sees heavy won-denominated volume, the move indicates a quiet push to deepen its crypto-native market structure.

Regulatory risk also shadows the listing. South Korea’s approach to token oversight remains strict, and Upbit has previously delisted assets that fail to meet disclosure or investor protection thresholds. A sudden compliance review could force some of these tokens off the platform, creating abrupt price disconnects for retail holders who entered on the exchange’s implicit endorsement. For now, the listing reinforces Upbit’s role as a kingmaker for altcoin visibility in Asia, even as the broader market watches for signs that these newly listed networks can move beyond exchange-driven interest.
