Elon Musk’s xAI debuts an Agent Dashboard in Grok Build, enhancing developer productivity with multi-session management tools.
Elon Musk’s xAI has unveiled the Agent Dashboard for Grok Build, a command-line interface (CLI) tool aimed at streamlining software development workflows. The dashboard allows developers to manage multiple coding sessions simultaneously, track progress, and intervene only when necessary. This release, announced on June 15, 2026, builds on xAI’s continued push into agentic AI systems, positioning the company as a competitor to Anthropic’s Claude Code and similar tools.
Designed for developers working in dynamic environments, the Agent Dashboard provides a centralized view of all active, idle, and completed sessions. Developers can monitor tasks in real time, reply to specific prompts, and even dispatch new work directly from the dashboard. Each session is categorized by status—working, awaiting input, or idle—with intuitive visual markers to indicate their state. For instance, a filled marker signals that a session requires user input, while a spinner denotes an active task.
One of the standout features is the ability to “peek” into a session without leaving the dashboard. This allows developers to review outputs, respond to queries, or queue commands. Sub-agents spawned within a session are grouped hierarchically, keeping the interface clean and navigable. For those managing large-scale projects, this functionality could significantly reduce overhead and improve task delegation efficiency.
Accessing the dashboard is straightforward: users can launch it via the command grok dashboard or by pressing a keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+\). The dashboard is part of the broader Grok Build system, which can be installed with a single command: $ curl -fsSL https://x.ai/cli/install.sh | bash.
Grok Build, first introduced publicly in mid-May 2026, represents a significant evolution in xAI’s Grok ecosystem. Initially launched in November 2023 as a chatbot integrated with X (formerly Twitter), Grok has undergone multiple iterations, culminating in the release of Grok-4 in July 2025. The latest version brought major enhancements in reasoning and coding capabilities, positioning Grok Build as a serious contender in the AI development tools market.
Unlike popular misconceptions that link the “Grok” name to cryptocurrency projects, Grok Build is not tokenized and does not involve blockchain or crypto-related functionalities. Instead, it focuses on delivering practical, agentic AI tools for developers, a key differentiator from the broader AI market crowded with tokenized solutions. This focus aligns with xAI’s broader strategy to develop AI systems capable of executing complex, multi-step tasks autonomously within a developer’s workflow.
xAI’s latest release underscores its ambition to compete directly with Anthropic and other players in the AI-powered development space. With Grok Build’s Agent Dashboard, the company is betting that developers will favor tools that provide operational transparency and seamless task management. As the AI development ecosystem grows increasingly competitive, it remains to be seen whether xAI’s Grok Build will become a must-have for software teams or simply a niche tool for a specific subset of users.
